Biography:

On February 16, 1851 three women enslaved by George W. Graham fled his Upper Marlboro plantation.  Two of the women, Susan, twenty-three, and Jenny, fifteen, were sisters.  Their father and aunt lived in Washington, D.C.  With the sisters ran a friend, Mary Anne, who also had relatives in Washington, D.C., and even some in New York City.  While their destination is unclear, they likely headed to family members for aid.
