Biography:

    In the spring of 1854 one of Levi Howarth's slaves fled from servitude. The 17 year old, "Isaac or Tom" had left the schooner Swan, a vessel which Howarth presumably owned or had hired the boy out to. The owner offered fifty dollars in a Baltimore Sun advertisement.
