Accomplice to slave flight, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, 1842

Biography:

In April, 1842, the Anne Arundel County Court declared that Wesley Green guilty of assisting slaves to escape, sentencing him to a twelve year prison term. Thirty-one years old at the time of his conviction, Green lived as a farmer in Anne Arundel County.  Though little has yet been recovered specific to his case, the free black man entered the Maryland Penitentiary on April 29, 1842 and died of consumption there on October 6, 1845.
