Biography:

James Henson successfully escaped in 1855 at the age of 28 under the alias David Caldwell.  He was previously owned by Jacob Johnson of Cecil County.  Though little has yet been recovered about his life after escape, Henson is known to have reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected with the Underground Railroad.
