Biography:
Isaac Fidget successfully escaped from Berlin in Worcester County, Maryland in 1855 with fellow slave Oliver Purnell. At age thirty, Fidget fled his owner, Mrs. Fidget, to travel to Canada. He was hoping to find his wife, who escaped slavery the previous spring. Though little information has been recovered about his life after his escape, Fidget is known to have reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected to the Underground Railroad.
