Biography:
At age four, Amanda Ennets successfully escaped from Dorchester County,
Maryland
with her mother, Maria,
her father, Stephen,
and her siblings, Harriet
aged six years and an infant
aged three months. While they were slaves
in Dorchester County, the Ennets family was split between two
owners.
Stephen was the property of John Kaiger, while Maria and the
children were the slaves of Algier Pearcy.
The Ennets family escaped with the direction of Harriet Tubman, this
successful attempt was her last "trip" to Maryland, as supported
by a letter written from
Thomas Garrett to William Still on December 1, 1860.
