W. H. Gwynn

Biography:
William Gwynn was born July 3, 1800 in Maryland. Gwynn was one of the larger slaveholders in the Piscataway District of Prince George's County. According to the 1833 Tax Assessment for the county, Gwynn owned 31 slaves. On December 25th 1843 Gwynn's slave Middleton Lockie ran away from the plantation. In the 1850 Federal Census slave schedule Gwynn owns 44 slaves and by the 1860 Federal Census slave schedules he owns 62 slaves. William Gwynn died October 8, 1884.
