Escaped from Queen Anne's County, Maryland, 1831

Biography:

On September 30, 1831, sixty-year-old Nancy Reasons escaped with her husband, John Reasons, from Thomas Hewitt's farm near Sudler’s Cross Roads. They escaped with another slave, William, who was enslaved nearby on Lewis Williamson's farm. The slaveholders placed a runaway ad that ran from October 22 to December 10, 1831, in the Centreville Times and Public Advertiser. The cumulative reward for all three slaves was $100.1
