Transcript:

The State of Maryland: To Jesse Reed and Thomas Ganthrop, Greeting. This is authorize you jointly to appraise the Goods, chattles and personal estate of Thomas Hewitt late of Queen Anns County deceased. So far as they shall come to your knowledge and sight; each of you having first taken the oath hereunto connnexed, a certificate whereof under hand & seal you are to return annexed To an inventory of the said Goods, Chattles and personal Estate; by you appraised in dollars- and in the said Inventory you are to set down in a column or columns opposite each article, the value thereof.
    Witness Henry E. Wright Esquire Chief Justice of the Orphans Court of Queen Anns County, this 15th day of December Anno Domini 1857.

December 23rd 1857      } Then Came Wm B.ewitt and Richard Phillips and Severally made oath on the Holy Evengely of Almighty God that the foregoing is a just and true Inventory of all and Singular the goods chattels and personal property of Thomas Hewitt late of Queen Anns County deceased, that came to their hands or possession at the time of the making thereof, that what hath since or shall hereafter come to their hands or possession they will return in an additional inventory, that they know of no concealment of any part or parcels of the deceaseds estate by any person whatsoever and that if they shall hereafter suspect any to be they will acquaint the Orphan's Court for Queen Anns County with such concealment or cause of suspicion that the same may be inquired into according to Law.
