Escaped from Kent Island, Queen Anne's County, Maryland, 1834

Biography:

On March 17, 1834, the twenty-three-year-old slave Maria escaped from Ed. Hamilton's house in Queen Anne's County. She was the former slave of Samuel R. Elliott, who had died in 1830. Hamilton and the widowed Elizabeth Elliott offered a ten-dollar reward for Maria's capture.1
